New England Takes First Place!
From fourth to first, the New England Revolution won 2-1 against the New York Red Bulls in their September 16th game at Gillette Stadium. It was a spectacular show of skill and perseverance by both teams; as well as physical with a total of 19 fouls and 5 yellow cards for New York and 18 fouls and 3 yellow cards for New England.
The first goal of the match was scored by Diego Fagundez in the second minute that was made possible by an assist from Juan Agudelo, giving New England a 1-0 lead. New England’s glory only lasted until the sixth minute when Mike Grella scored a rocket into the top right corner to tie up the game. In the twenty-first minute New England was awarded a free kick that New York midfielder, McCarty, brilliantly saved.
New England got their revenge in the sixty-fifth minute in which Kelyn Rowe scored a stunning volley to place New England ahead 2-1. What other way for him to celebrate this amazing goal than by doing the Rowe-boat.
The New England Revolution proved once more that they are a challenge to defeat.
