Jona Lewie - Stop The Cavalry

Stop the Cavalry is a song I seem to forget about until this time of year. It was supposed to be a song protesting WWI but instead became a classic Christmas song. Enjoying humming this song all season.

Christina Aguilera - Candyman

This song is annoyingly catchy, full of rather suggestive innuendos, and does not seem have any real purpose. What those characteristics all have in common is that they make me not like this song at all. Halsey - New Americana

This song is just a song I really like. Its catchy and fun and overall connects with today's American culture with "high on legal marijuana" and being "raised on Biggie and Nirvana".

Green Day - 21 Guns

I have been going on a Green Day adventure the past week. Of all of their songs, "21 Guns" and "Good Riddance" are my favorites.

Johnny Cash - You Are My Sunshine

No matter how old you are, you have heard this song at one point in time. This song has been extremely special to me since I was little. Late at night, my mom would sing this to me whenever we had a deep conversation. This song has been a great mood-lifter for me when I am feeling down and has been extremely relevant these past few weeks.

Band of Skulls - Close To Nowhere

This is a song about finding what your life is for. The speaker is discouraged from trying to find their passion from people who encourage "stability" rather than passion. It's a song about continuing to search for something meaningful in life.

Violent Femmes - American Music

Here's a song about American music.

They don't really like American music.

It's a joke about American music.

Ba-by.

Basically this song is a parody of American pop in its entirety. From the angsty poetry about the moon and lakes, to complaining about not having a date to the prom, to saying baby every line, this is the quintessential anti-pop song.

Primitive Radio Gods - Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand

This is a song that questions why we retain faith in society when it continues to disappoint us. It's a very existential commentary on our meaningless distractions from the inevitability of pointlessness. Despite being one of my favorite lyrics of all time, the line "We sit outside and argue all night long / about a god we've never seen, / but never fails to side with me" actually brings up a point that isn't very central to the songs theme. It refers to arguing about religion to illustrate petty distractions, but hints at disdain towards people using religion to further their own goals.

Gwen Stefani - Used To Love You

This song is really nice because it shows that you don't realize what you have until it's gone. In Gwen's case her boyfriend left her for someone else, and she realized how much she loved him and needed him in her life, once he was gone. It's hard to lose someone in general, but it's harder when you didn't even realize how much you actually cared about them.

I think it's a better version of Titanium.
