Wait... So What Happens When Peabody High Closes Its Doors for the Summer?

We all love that last day of school, knowing we finally get a break from it all. But have you ever wondered about what happens when school comes to an end?

The first thing you see is the beautiful sight of flowers and shrubbery in the school’s main entrance. The orange lilies bloom in happiness because there are no teens to pick them.

Then, as you walk in, you see the performing arts hallway, which is seemingly less “lit” than usual.

Walking past the War Veterans Courtyard, you may notice that the manhole is open, working endlessly to catch every last bit of teenage stench.

As you travel through the rest of the school, you will observe an unsettling silence. The teachers and staff sit and sulk in this silence, for there is no juicy gossip to overhear.

You head out through the student ramp and are startled by the deadly shrieks of desks, congregating outside. They let out their battle cries simultaneously as they prepare to invade the school when the new school year arrives as revenge for the gummy abuse they have been put through. Next to the desks are the dumpsters, which have turned towards the sun to bake their intense stench in the sun.

After briskly walking over the ramp, you examine the student parking lot, which is free of vapors at last.

The “Peabody High Pond” has been drained of students’ tears and as you leave, you stop at the stop sign at the student drop off.

Looking down the road, you see the intersection where the buses and student drivers typically met at 1:50.

The intersection is now free from the acts of human sacrifice of students rushing to leave.

In all actuality, many teachers and staff come in daily while working hard to maintain the school in the summer and prepare it for the upcoming school year and its events. Clearly, this was all purely fictional.

The only real thing that was strange while going back into Peabody High during the summer was that I suddenly had phone service.
