Music Monday No. 6: "All I Want for Christmas Is You"

Welcome to the sixth (and Christmas edition) of Music Monday! This week's winning song was “All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey! Don’t hesitate to send in a request to @thetannertimes on Instagram!

Of course, we all know this classic and feel-good Christmas song featuring the recognizable and outstanding vocals by Carey. I’m positive when anyone hears this song, they get a little bit of Christmas spirit in their souls. The jingling bells in the background and lyrics we all love to sing along to never fail to have the song being played on every Christmas station during the season. I love how high her voice can go in the song. This song is played on the radio a lot. Almost every time I listen to the radio, this song comes on at least once.

The song was released in 1994 and was a bit of risk at the time because Christmas songs are usually signs of a career fading away, although this song showed that was not the case. The top 100, as of December 5th, is still being ruled by the hit song.

In fact, the song had once been called "one of the few worthy modern additions to the holiday canon" and has obviously become known as a Christmas standard around the globe, along with other classics like "Jingle Bells" and "Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree."

The song has even been duetted and covered by Justin Bieber in his 2011 album. Nonetheless, it's been covered by many other artists throughout the years. On another note, the song was reported to have earned over $60 million dollars in royalties and sold over 16 million copies.

Overall, this song is a key asset to the Christmas season. It’s timeless and never fails to bring out the holiday joy in people. So, make sure you give “All I Want for Christmas Is You” a listen on Spotify and YouTube and get into the holiday spirit! Merry Christmas, Happy Crimble, and Happy Holidays!
