Music Monday No. 14: "Sandstorm"
*This edition is dedicated to Gabe Goldman, who for some reason hates this song*
Welcome to this week’s edition of Music Monday! This week’s winning song was “Sandstorm” by Darude. Don’t forget that we take suggestions, so if you want a song to be nominated make sure to shoot us a DM @thetannertimes on Instagram.
“Sandstorm” by Darude is a pretty bad song (no offense) compared to a lot of other songs like this. It is very repetitive and literally makes the same noise the whole time except for a couple of random onomatopoeias thrown in there. I would say something about the lyrics right about now, but there is not much to say since it’s just a bunch of onomatopoeias.
This song was written by a Finnish DJ named “Darude.” It was originally released in 1999 as the title song of the album Before the Storm. It became a global recognition as well as a really big meme song. Over 10 years after it was released it was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America because it sold over 500,000 copies.
Thank you for reading all about “Sandstorm” by Darude. If you have never listened to this song, or want to listen to it again, it can be played on YouTube or Spotify. I hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of Music Monday.
