The first long weekend of the year has arrived! Here’s a list of things to keep you occupied during it. We’ve included activities that can be done both online and offline, just in case you want to avoid staring at a screen the entire day after spending most of your week in remote classes.
1. Call your friends
This time has been challenging for many since in-person meetups are difficult to set up. Check in with your friends and spend some time in a FaceTime call.
2. Play Among Us
Playing this fairly recent online video game can be a fun way to spend boring moments of the day with friends as you try to find the impostors among a group of crewmates.
3. Go outside to walk or exercise
A breath of fresh air can feel really nice after a stressful week. Clear your mind by doing yoga or going on a run.
4. Read a book
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai, Infinity Son by Adam Silvera, and Random by Tom Leveen are some books we recommend.
5. Catch up on work
A lot of teachers are setting work to be due on Wednesdays, so make sure to plan out your weekend and avoid doing all your work on Tuesday. We’re also very close to the end of the quarter, so take a little bit of time to make sure you’re ready for a new semester!
6. Go into a call with a friend and watch a movie or show together
Disney+ has a party option called GroupWatch. Load up recent movies and shows such as WandaVision or Soul and invite up to six friends to watch them together!
7. Chill out and listen to music
Some song recommendations are “Something” by The Beatles and “Drivers License” by Olivia Rodrigo.
8. Draw
A classic way to clear your mind and relieve stress. Filling in a coloring book can help, too.
9. Play board games
Diamonsters and Throw Throw Burrito are really fun board games to play.
10. Cook or bake something
2020 was a crazy time filled with a lot of experimenting in the kitchen. Try making something new!
