Halloween is less than two weeks away! Upon hearing the word “Halloween,” one may think of costumes, fall, pumpkins, ghosts, witches, bats, haunted houses, and of course, candy.

Statistics state that Americans will spend 2.5 billion dollars on candy this year. With the multitude of candy sales during the Halloween season, it is inferred that Halloween makes a large impact on this number. I decided to ask students at PVMHS which popular candy they preferred: Skittles or M&M’s?
Skittles are fruity, while M&M’s are chocolatey. Both are popular types of candy in America, and both are handed out on Halloween and sold at just about every grocery store.
Ready to see which one is enjoyed more at PVMHS? Here are the results.

Well, there you have it! M&M’s is the preferred candy at PVMHS. About 3/4ths of the students that participated in this survey stated that they like M&M’s more than Skittles. It was a difficult choice for many: I got responses such as “Can I choose both?” and “Wow, that’s a tough one!” For some students, however, the answer was clear: “Skittles, definitely Skittles.”
